1.
paper airplane crash on the warm cement, and i'm so thankful for whoever folded it. god only knows how far it's flown before it hit. it worked out it always does. untucked shirt, untied boots, the train is five hours late. right on time. it worked out it always does, even if it doesn't. i don't have time to fall in love with you, but it looks like i don't get to choose. it's gonna work out it always does, even if it doesn't. ten days, nine months, seven days, ten months. it's gonna work out, it always does, even if it doesn't. skipped last winter by movin' to the desert. gonna spend this winter covered in snow. and i'm workin' on gettin' a banjo, but i still don't have a coat. it's gonna work out, it always does, even if it doesn't.

nothin' but dumpster in my skillet. mostly ugly on my face. two dollars in my pocket from buskin' in the alley way. are you really only wearin' carhearts and the ol' banjo? are we really on this beach in january? are you really leavin' tomorrow. a whole galaxy of a library, and you tell me that i'm your favorite read, i like you better for a song, write you another letter as i sing along. i'm afraid that i don't have time to, fall in love with you, but it looks like i don't get to choose.
3.
it's not the first time i've played music in the airport. but it's the first time that ten months seems like the rest of my life. are we just trustin' this tin roof? or are we distracted by the lightning? what is it that you wanted to tell me? coffee, a haircut, the Talking Heads, pulling morning glory for your mother...
4.
trustin' this tin roof? or distracted by the lightnin'? what is it that you wanted to tell me? ten days, nine months, seven days, ten months. god damn. if lightnin' could fit into an envelope, that would explain the risin' cost of postage these days. are you really only wearin' carhearts and the ol' banjo? are we really on this beach in january? are you really leavin' tomorrow?
